Our team at Prime has provided input to numerous renewable energy projects across the UK. This includes the production of Transport Statements, Route Assessments and Construction Traffic Management Plans (CTMP) for Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) and solar schemes. We have worked on projects in Wrexham, Flintshire, Deeside, Bristol, Wiltshire, Oxfordshire, Nottinghamshire, Derbyshire, Somerset, Essex, Surrey, Aberdeenshire, Ayr, Ballingry, Clackmannanshire and Fife in Scotland.
We have also provided ES chapters for solar farm projects in Hertfordshire and Kent, the latter scheme constituting a ‘Nationally Significant Infrastructure Project’ (NSIP) and hence being subject to an application for a Development Consent Order (DCO). As part of our input to the scheme in Kent, we provided an expert witness and presented evidence at the Issue Specific Hearing on the suitability of the access routes to the site to accommodate construction and maintenance vehicles.
The advances in technology for BESS and solar schemes has meant that the weight of batteries has significantly increased, and specialist haulage contractors are now required to deliver the kit associated with schemes to the site. This has placed a much greater emphasis on the Route Assessment and CTMPs produced for these schemes with particular emphasis now being given to bridges and culverts that may need to be crossed, or any sections of restrictive road widths.
The following is a selection of renewable energy projects that Prime has been involved with:
- Stonestreet Green Solar, Ashford, Kent (DCO)
- Solar farms in Aberdeenshire, Oxfordshire, Derbyshire
- BESS sites in Greater Manchester, Hampshire, South Ayrshire, Central Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire, Lancashire, Fife, Clackmannanshire and South Lanarkshire
- Various gas ‘peaker’ sites across the UK
